Does this sound like you?

This is your first baby, and you feel overwhelmed with the thought of labour.

Maybe this isn’t your first birth, but the last time felt overwhelming, even traumatic. You were left feeling shaken, unheard, or unsure. This time, you’re craving something different.

You’re worried you won’t be ready for the intensity of the contractions.

You’ve been hearing birth stories, and some have left you unsettled—that fear of “what if” has been quietly playing in the back of your mind.

You had a C-section last time. You want to try for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean), but you don't know how.

Tara's step-by-step Doula support

1. Free Initial Consult

We start with a conversation to see if we feel comfortable together. Your birth partner is welcome to join us!

2. Access to The Confident Birth Method

My signature program offering prenatal yoga, childbirth education, and mindset practice — all online, all at your own pace, and available throughout your entire pregnancy so you can prepare your body for pushing, your mind for labouring, and your partner for supporting you.

" It is a great program with all the information at your fingertips. I loved the yoga sections and meditations. Tara's voice is so soothing and great for building a connection for labour."

-Angelina

3. In-person Sessions

We get to know each other and explore your dreams, goals, fears, and the vision you have for labour, birth, and early postpartum. We build your birth plan, prepare your home for early labour, teach your partner hands-on support techniques, and walk through every question (including the ones your doctor doesn’t cover).

4. Ongoing check-ins

Regular check-ins to keep you on track, answer your questions, and soothe any anxious or overwhelmed moments that come up along the way.

5. On-call support from 38 weeks

As birth approaches, I stay in close contact, helping you navigate the “is this it?” moments and guiding you through what to do as labour begins.

6. Your birth!

When active labour begins, I’m by your side with hands-on comfort techniques, positioning that helps labour progress, and keeping you and your partner calm.

7. Postpartum support

I stay for 1–2 hours after birth to help you settle, support that first latch if you’re breastfeeding, and ensure you feel safe and steady. Once the early haze settles, I come to your home to support feeding, soothing, newborn care, or simply to hold space so you can shower, breathe, and ease into this new chapter.

"Postpartum, Tara was able to help me with breastfeeding and fixed a lot of the issues we were having in just one visit."

Extras that are included because you deserve them:

TENS is a safe, drug-free comfort tool that is backed by research. Studies show that women who use TENS use less pain medication during labour. With labour TENS, you are free to move around, you stay clear-headed because nothing is going into your system, and there is no harm to the baby. It pairs well with other comfort techniques, and it may help you delay or avoid an epidural.

You can read more about TENS in Labour HERE

Reiki is a gentle, hands-on healing modality that reduces stress, encourages relaxation, and brings the body back into balance. Reiki is also incredible for pain relief during labour. I offer this to all my clients, and if you feel comfortable with it, I will clear the hospital room and send Reiki to you while I am doing my usual Doula tasks! No one needs to know you are receiving Reiki except you!

"At one point, she placed her hand on my neck, and I instantly stopped shaking and felt the pain ease." -Robyn

Reiki is currently used in some hospitals to ease pain for palliative care patients, and I believe it will eventually be considered inhumane not to use Reiki for labouring women!

Many people don't realize how many things they can do to reduce pain and lower their chances of having a C-section or other medical interventions. And they are all natural!

I cover them all, from how to prepare your muscles to what you eat and drink in labour, so you don't run out of fuel. I also give your partner a list of natural contraction coping techniques and show them what to do when your labour starts, so you aren't left feeling scared and alone.

I come prepared when you are in active labour with my own doula bag, filled with tools that help you feel calm and supported so you can have the birth you desire.

All these things matter when you are preparing for a low-intervention birth!

Frequently asked questions

Having a loving and supportive partner is a beautiful gift and a birth doula doesn't replace that! I work with your partner, not instead of them.

Your partner knows you better than anyone. I know birth inside and out. Together, we make a powerful team.

A doula gives your partner the confidence, tools, and calm they need to support you without feeling overwhelmed or unsure. I guide them on when to anchor you with touch, when to rest, when to breathe with you, and what to do when things feel intense or unexpected. This frees them up to stay present, connected, and emotionally steady.

And just as importantly, your partner deserves support too. Birth is big, emotional, and sometimes scary for them as well. A doula holds space for both of you.

Absolutely — you can adore your doctor and still benefit deeply from having a doula. Your doctor is there to keep you and your baby medically safe. Their role is essential… but it’s also limited by time, hospital policies, and the nature of clinical care. Most people don't realize how little they see their doctor during their labour and delivery.

A doula supports you in a completely different way. I’m with you before, during, and after labour, helping you stay centred, calm, and fully informed. I help your partner feel confident in their role, protect the vision you have for your birth, and guide you through the emotional and energetic side of labour that medical care simply can’t cover.

Think of it this way: your doctor focuses on the health of your birth. Your doula supports the experience of your birth — your mindset, your comfort, your fears, your flow, your voice.

When you have both, you get the best of all worlds: a safe, supported, low-intervention birth that feels deeply aligned with you.

A doula is a trained support person who walks with you through pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum—offering continuous emotional, physical, and informational support. I’m not a medical provider, but I help you feel calm, informed, and cared for every step of the way. I support both you and your partner, helping you navigate decisions and stay connected to your body and your birth experience.

Your medical team focuses on clinical care. My role is to support your emotional well-being and physical comfort through things like breathwork, massage, positioning, and nervous system tools. I stay with you throughout your entire labour (unlike staff who may rotate shifts), and I also work with you well before labour begins to prepare you fully for birth and postpartum.

My role is to support your birth, whatever that looks like for you. Whether you're planning an unmedicated birth, are planning on the epidural as a backup plan, or are navigating a planned cesarean, I’m here to help you feel calm, informed, and supported. Birth doesn’t need to fit a certain mould to be powerful. You get to choose, and I walk with you through it, no matter what path your labour journey takes.

The Confident Birth Method is my signature online program designed to help you prepare mentally, physically, and emotionally for labour. It includes prenatal yoga, breathwork, mindset tools, bite-sized audio lessons, and partner prep—all self-paced and easy to fit into your week. It’s holistic, heart-centred, and created to help you feel strong, calm, and ready. All my doula clients get access to my program, which has helped women feel prepared, lower their anxiety, and have low or no-intervention births in Canada and the US.

The earlier, the better! Booking early gives us time to build trust and prepare your body and mind gradually over pregnancy—not just in the final weeks. That said, I occasionally have space for late bookings, so if you’re getting close to your due date and feeling scared, reach out, and we’ll chat.

Yes. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, a previous traumatic birth, or hoping for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). My step-by-step approach includes nervous system regulation, trauma-aware education, and personalized care that meets you where you are. I hold space for your story and help you move forward with tools that bring safety and calm to your experience.

My work is more than traditional doula support. I blend childbirth education, prenatal yoga, and holistic practices so that your birth preparation isn’t just about knowing what to expect; it’s about connecting deeply with your body, calming your nervous system, and building confidence in your choices. I prepare you mentally, physically, and emotionally for birth in a way that feels grounded and supported. Then I attend your birth as your doula, giving you hands-on support and comfort while you are in labour, protecting your birth space and helping you and your partner stay calm.

You’ll still be fully supported. If a cesarean becomes necessary, I can be by your side during surgery if your partner isn’t able to be there, or meet you in recovery to help you feel calm, grounded, and cared for. I help calm your nervous system and ease the transition. I’ll also support you in those first moments of bonding and, if planned, with the initiation of breastfeeding, so you feel held and confident, even when the birth takes a different path.

"Thank you for your calm presence. You have gone above and beyond with my long labour. I felt supported even when plans kept changing and ended in a safe C-section." - Angelina

Yes! I’m a certified childbirth educator, and I teach you and your partner everything from how labour works, to how to cope with intensity to what your options are in the system. It’s evidence-based, practical, and tailored to you. We talk about real tools for labour—not just theory—so you feel informed, not overwhelmed.
